WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL ABOUT JESUS?

At one point in Jesus' life he looked directly into the eyes of the disciple Peter and asked this timeless question, " Who do you say that I am?"

As Jesus gazed into the eyes of this one disciple time must have stood still. At that moment He really didn't care what anyone else thought of him, only Peter. There they stood mano y mano and Jesus wanted an answer.

You know, in all actuality, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of Jesus because he is squaring off with only you. You don't have to answer for anyone else or explain why most of the world mistakes him for Santa Claus or the easter bunny. He is gazing throught the window of your soul and he wants an answer.

So, here's the problem. Nobody seems to know who Jesus really is. Are you kidding me? The most well recognized name and image in history has an identity problem? Well, it's not so much that Jesus has an anonomous identity it's that we simply don't know the authentic character of who he is. Many of us, as is our nature, have taken the easy road of allowing culture and preferences of society to define him for us. So much so that many american Christians can't even define the character or personality of him we love so much. I like to call this the "plastic Jesus" syndrome. We are in love with the ideas that we have created about who Jesus is and not the authenctic Jesus.

So, here's the deal. If you fit in one of the following three categories, you need to read on:

  • You have never discovered that Jesus loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.
  • You feel as if your relationship with Christ has become stagnant, boring, or non-existent
  • You have a hunger to know Jesus more

You will find links in the sidebar for studies and info for those described above. My prayer is that this page be organic in that it will continue to grow and you will come back often to learn more about our loving Savior Jesus. I will be posting new links and changing content periodically for you to study further.

Today He is looking at you and asking the same question.

"Who do you say that I am?"
